Get A Grip Assessment Booklets

This classroom set of preschool booklets are performance based assessments for the first week of school and the last week of school. Children who participate in the DCIR Get A Grip program have shown a considerable amount of growth from start to end in their ability to hold a pencil properly with the correct grip, write straight and curved lines as well as begin to form their letter shapes. Teachers can assess if the student is right or left handed, do they hold their paper parallel to their arm and which grip they have. This booklet gives teachers visual evidence of the growth their students are making in class and also gives kindergarten teachers a clear picture of where their new incoming students will be when they graduate to their next grade.

These booklets are four pages. They are double sided, color printed on legal size cardstock, folded and stapled. The back of the book even has a section for notes from the preschool teacher to the kindergarten teacher.

We have had much success with these booklets and they are a form of testing that is fun and engaging but also reveals a lot of a child’s capabilities.
