Foundation Course Workbook
When we began implementing our Foundation course in schools, we noticed three things. 1. School printouts of our papers were not always the best resolution or color. 2. Some of the more faint lines on our papers were not even showing up when they printed on school printers. 3. The teachers had to contend with organizing a lot of papers from each student. To offset these challenges, we developed a workbook of the half sheet lesson papers needed to complete the Foundation course in order.

The booklet starts out with a diagram of the proper grip that we recommend the whole class practices for 1 minute every morning. Following the diagram, we have the papers that display the crayons used in the project and a place to test out the soft, medium and hard pressure that can be applied to each crayon to achieve different colors from each crayon. These papers are helpful because they teach pressure skills and allow children to experience pushing softly to get light colors and harder to get darker colors. The lesson pages follow the color guide pages. The graph paper is usually used for the lesson’s warm up followed by the blank half sheet used for the lesson drawing.

There are 3 lessons that require a full sheet paper, printed by the viewer. These pages are not provided in this workbook. These additional pages are to be printed for the following lessons: The Framed Art Present, WOW and the How the Dragon Found His Castle book. These should all be printed on letter sized card stock paper, if possible.
